About The Great Rolando

The Great Rolando 2021 Estate Syrah is dedicated to Anna's father, Roland Johansson (1929-1995), a celebrated Swedish American acrobat who delighted audiences throughout the world with his awe-inspiring one-finger balancing act. Discovered at 16 on a beach in Sweden, Roland moved to America. He toured the world with Ringling Bros. Circus, The Harlem Globetrotters, and Lilly Yokoi, The Ballerina on the Golden Bicycle. The Great Rolando 2021 Estate Syrah heralds from the oak-studded hills of California's iconic Santa Ynez Valley, in the Los Olivos AVA. Our ranch is blessed with California's coastal climate and ideal growing conditions. The 15-degree slope of our vineyards, their rich loamy soil, and a 1300-foot elevation kissed by Pacific Ocean fog produce exceptional quality grapes. We irrigate with well water, harvest by hand, small-batch crush using traditional methods, and age the wine in French oak for at least 18 months.
