4K Ranch & Vineyards Santa Ynez, California THE GREAT ROLANDO Estate Syrah

The Great Rolando Estate Syrah is dedicated to Anna's father, Roland Johansson (1929-1995), a celebrated Swedish American acrobat who delighted audiences throughout the world with his awe-inspiring one-finger balancing act. Discovered at 16 on a beach in Malmö, Sweden, Roland moved to America and toured with Ringling Bros. Circus, The Harlem Globetrotters, and Lilly Yokoi, The Ballerina on the Golden Bicycle. The Great Rolando Estate Syrah hails from the oak-studded hills of California's iconic Santa Ynez Valley, in the Los Olivos AVA. Our ranch, the 4K, is blessed with California's central coast climate and ideal growing conditions. The 15-degree slope of our vineyards, their rich, loamy soil, a 1300-foot elevation, and vines embraced by Pacific Ocean fog, produce exceptional Syrah grapes. We irrigate with well water, harvest by hand, crush in small batches using traditional methods, and age the wine in French oak for 18 months. We hope you find our Syrah as exciting, elegant, and balanced as a mesmerizing performance of

The Great Rolando became world famous for his one-finger handstand.

The Great Rolando made front-page news in Zurich, Switzerland, when, at the top of the City's tallest building, he performed a one-armed handstand on a cane while spinning rings on his arms, legs, and the cane itself. When the photo hit the paper, people knew the circus was in town.
Our 2024 Estate Syrah is dedicated to the world's original bicycle acrobat, Lilly Yokoi (1929-2026). Lilly and Roland were a husband-and-wife team working together on the stages of Hollywood, Las Vegas, Paris, London, and New York.
The 2024 vintage honors the extraordinary beauty, talent, and precision of Lilly Yokoi, The Ballerina on the Golden Bicycle, a member of the Circus Hall of Fame.

The 2021 Syrah reignited a legend in our cellars. From the first swirl, its lush, jammy core of blackberries. red currents, and stone fruit unfold into refined spice and structure. True to its Santa Ynez roots, the 2021 marries fruit-forward appeal with thoughtful complexity. Limit: One case maximum.
This is a deeply expressive wine—vibrant and soulful—offering shades of Rainier cherry, olallieberry, plum, black currant, and a whisper of anise. On the palate, it unfolds gracefully: savory undertones greet the front, giving way to lush, mid-palate fruit, before settling into a refined finish of lavender-tinged pepper. Crafted entirely by hand—from vineyard to bottle—with no machinery, pesticides, or fertilizers. Extremely limited. One case maximum.
This wine honors the daring grace of The Great Rolando as he performed a one-handed handstand while perched high above Bern, Switzerland, spinning metal rings on his arms and legs with precision and flair, earning front-page news acclaim. Our 2023 TGR grapes are hand-harvested by vines perched 1100 feet above the Santa Ynez Valley, delivering both courage and elegance. It opens with lush blackberry and morphs into vivid raspberry, with notes of cherry, vanilla, and toast.
The 2024 vintage honors the extraordinary beauty, talent, and precision of Lilly Yokoi, repeatedly described by circus historians and owners as the greatest solo bicycle act in history. We hope this wine is a suitable tribute to her life and legacy. The Ballerina on the Golden Bicycle Syrah presents with a bouquet of golden plum, wasabi, currant, cilantro, and toast.
